I know this is old news but I just found it tonight.
Outrage Over Burning Twin Towers Halloween Costume Worn by Teens in the UK
Every year we hear about people who choose to wear inappropriate Halloween costumes. Well, for some reason, 2013 seems to be topping all other years as far as offensive costumes are concerned. You may have heard of the fury over costumes representing Trayvon Martin and Boston Marathon bombing victims, as well as criticism of celebrities like Julianne Hough for wearing blackface for her "Orange Is the New Black" attire. Now photos of two girls in the United Kingdom are causing even more outrage.
One more example of people looking for reasons to be offended.
I thot the purpose of Halloween costumes was to dress as something scary. What is more scary than being jolted out of one's complacency by the realization that you can be attacked and killed any place, any time, by the lawless, and there is nothing you can do about it?
Depicting an event that killed thousands while your at a party having a good time is both distasteful and disrespectful. Events like that are no jokes and that is exactly what they are making into. Perhaps next year they could be holocaust victims.

So it is distasteful and disrespective and offensive if someone dresses a Vlad the Impaler? Dont we have a whole culture built around that?
