Making fun of a grieving mother is a new low.
She is calling for charges to be pressed favoring her criminal son. Most parents don't stoop so low and focus on the grieving as to why their child strayed so much.
"In before" is there for a reason. To avoid mental masturbation freshman philosophy adages such as "we all gonna die someday" having zero to do with the thugs who were righteously killed in self-defense.

The likely scenario is that the person went outside to say something and the thieves tried to charge him, thinking they'd be identified.
