The part where those closest to the people, are the only representatives allowed to tax the people.
Taxation without representation and all that stuff.....
The Origination Clause to the Constitution.

They have pretty much scared us from using the 1st Amendment.
They have restricted the 2nd Amendment.
They have stripped both the 4th and 5th Amendments.
Stomped on the 9th & 10th Amendments.

The number of representatives hasn't changed in ~100 years. We need more representation; population has tripled.

This is unsupported nonsense. We have representation in Congress; which under the Constitution, has the power to levy taxes.

Anyone who thinks the House of Representatives has exclusive authority to levy taxes is so confused as not to be worth listening to.

Then that is something that should be dealt with at the state level not the federal level.

So gloomy

So hypersensitive

So short-sighted

That not what this thread addresses. Certainly, all legislative bodies - federal, state, local - have the authority to levy taxes. What the thread addresses is the power under the Constitution, which is vested in Congress that is composed of our elected representatives.

Why would anyone who wants smaller government want to have over 6000 representatives in the House?

ACA is now a tax. What about all the "fees" that get imposed?

When was the last time your Representative on Congress voted on fees? When was the last time you did?
