Do soldiers routinely do pullups in the heat of battle? I just can't see how this will 'ruin our military.'
It is about upper body strength, and if you are in the field crawling through and over things you need it. Females assigned to combat unit should have to pass the exact same tests as the males.

I agree, to a point. How many pullups you can do isn't really indicative of how well of a soldier you are. There are more worthwhile methods of testing one's combat aptitude.
If a lady can do 100 pullups, but not shoot a tin can from 3 feet away with an M16, then I'd say no.
The fact is they are going to spend a hell of a lot of money training these females, and only a very few are going to be able to complete the courses if the standards are maintained. You can be politically correct all you want, but time and money is being wasted. They brag that 3 females passed the Marines course. What about all that failed?
I remember when I was in the Army there was a big to-do about women having the same jobs as men. There was a briefly famous female helicopeter mechanic who was looking for a big strong MAN to carry her toolbox out to the chopper so she could go to work.
She was upset because nobody volunteered. Basically, she was told "You wanted the job, and part of the job is moving the toolbox. Figure out how to do it yourself!"
That was way back then, this is now. The concept is the same: You want the job, you best be capable of doing the job! If you can't, go home!
Men or women, doesn't matter!

???????????
and I doubt men run for 2 miles ......"in the heat of battle "
However, doing those things in training builds their strength and endurance which many times are necessary to possess ..........." In the heat of battle "
Never said that none don't.
3 women out of how many? I am glad the Marines maintain a standard. Too often the idiots who lower standards are people who have never been in the soup and will never be in the soup.
My NYPD buddies fear having a female partner. There are women who can handle themselves, but your average woman can easily be disarmed by just about any man.
