Yeah, the dead guy acted just like a kid!

It took a real MAN to answer a popcorn challenge with a bullet.

Hasn't anyone ever told you to never bring popcorn to a gun fight?

If popcorn was thrown and then he shot him he is going to prison. If there was a fight he will probably get off. Either way the dead guy is the bad guy in all of this IMHO. His behavior was deplorable.

Oh for cryin' out loud, a bag of popcorn is not going to set me off! It's POPCORN!!! In fact I'd probably laugh at the dude! But in the first place, I wouldn't have bothered to whine to an usher or manager about someone texting on their cellphone in the theatre...soooooooooo........

Accused Movie Theater Shooter Said He Was 'In Fear of Being Attacked' - ABC News

"A judge presiding over Reeves' first court appearance today said the evidence of his guilt was "significant." The prosecutor in the case told the judge investigators had received a call from another concerned moviegoer who said Reeves had once followed her to the bathroom over her texting."

Hey. That's what they do.

Lots of macho guys out there. Heck, this forum is full of them. Real men. Like tough guys. Guys who put John Wayne to shame. They're the ones making sure everyone knows they hunt (squirrels and big game seem to be under control) and carry (cause you never know when you might need to illustrate how the 2nd Amendment works) and defend America from people who throw popcorn in theaters.

There are so many illustrations of Being A Man on this forum it's amazing the testosterone doesn't kill everyone dead before the bullets do.

Yet another reason I don't go to the theatre to see movies.....a cramped shooting gallery.

And again, does that justify SHOOTING someone dead??

I don't think that Mr Reeves was fearful at all. I think he was infuriated. Infuriated that this man refused to obey him. Infuriated that the theater personnel didn't support Reeves' exercise of authority. And when the guy became even more insolent, Reeves' fury took over.

The fact of the matter is that cell phones are a part of everyday life, now. People are on their cell phones in every venue. For many older people, that's something they simply don't understand, because that technology isn't a part of their lives. And it's very frustrating for them. They feel excluded, like everyone around them is speaking a foreign language, and it's a fundamental part of our social fabric that others are supposed to INCLUDE you, so when they feel excluded they feel that it's the poor manners of others, and that those others need to be corrected. Mr Reeves was trying to correct the person texting. To teach him some manners. That the texter refused to be corrected, and was insolent to boot, simply pushed Mr Reeves' buttons. The tragedy was that Mr Reeves carried a gun, and could act impulsively on his fury. Then, after his explosion, sitting there waiting for the police, Mr Reeves realized what he had done, and he realized he needed to defend what he had done.

But truly, there isn't any way he can. A woman lost her husband, a child lost her father, because a man lost his temper. I'm sure he's heartbroken as his attorney reports. But he can't undo what he's done. That's what makes violence a tragedy. It can't be undone.

So much more mature to draw your .380 and off a dude eh? A man in his seventies who shoots someone over texting. SMH.
