Nancy Pelosi Net Worth - TheRichest

Libs are not opposed at all to the concept of "enlightened and priveledged" citizens ruling over the dirty masses. They are more akin to monarchs and feel "justified" in ruling over the masses, as they are more capable of making decisions than are individuals.

Our own Tom Harkin entered the senate with a net worth of $400K and is leaving the senate with a net worth of $28 million! In addition, he has not even lived in the US for the last 16 years, residing in the Bahamas!

You see, a politician like this (and Pelosi) should be leaving office in handcuffs on their way to Leavenworth. Instead, the left praises them as "defenders of the poor"!

This is the state of our elected officials. They really feel as though THEY RULE US, rather than serve us.

The problem is that the low-information types (regardless of political persuasion) don't fully grasp what you said in your last sentence.

They view politics as nothing more than a popularity contest, where they equate name recognition with job performance. And of course, the politicians do their best to stay popular, by bringing home the pork to the masses.

Since we'll never get term limits, the best we can hope for is to vote out every incumbent in every election. But that's pretty unlikely, too.

While I agree that most D.C. politicians enrich themselves, we must not lose our heads. Your own link shows that Senator Harkin's increase in wealth is 94 percent due to his wife's earnings. Owning a vacation home in the Bahamas, as distasteful as you may find it, does not equate to 'living' in the Bahamas. The issue is: would Senator Harkin's wife had earned that much money if she (also an attorney) had not been married to a Representative/Senator? Ah! I don't know.

We may also justly ask the same question of Representative McCaul of Texas, the richest member of the US Congress (close to $300 million). My link (below) notes:

"The lion’s share of McCaul’s wealth is held by his wife, Linda McCaul, the daughter of Clear Channel Communications CEO and founder Lowry Mays, and the Congressman’s dramatic rise in net worth in 2010 appears to be the product of generational wealth transfer."

The 50 Richest Members of Congress — 112th : Roll Call

Here is also a link to the ten poorest members of Congress. 8 of the 10 are Democrats.

10 'Poorest' Members of Congress Owe Big : Roll Call News

Shall we draw conclusions from that?

I see that Vice-President Joe Biden, long known to be one of the poorest of Senators, has still not struck it rich:

https://www.opensecrets.org/pfds/CID...1669&year=2012

Let us be clear: many enter politics for the love of power and the pursuit of wealth. If a particular person believes that he or she may achieve their goal by being Democrat, they will declare themselves so. Likewise, if they believe being a Republican is the path to success, they will opt that way (I personally believe that some of the new 'tea party' politicians are like this; they saw an opportunity to break into politics by sprouting tea party slogans, and are running with it).

While I liked Ronald Reagan during his presidency, I did not like his policy of allowing Japan to export more and more cars to the USA, and I decidedly did not like it when, shortly after leaving office, he flew to Japan to give a speech to Japan's automakers, being paid 2 million dollars. It still sounds like a payoff. But, that is what happens. President Clinton made buckets of money after leaving office and giving speeches, as did President Bush the Younger. I'm sure President Obama will do the same.

In short, such is life. Politicians will make money, both in and out of office. To single out one particular person seems to be putting on narrow blinders.

D or R doesn't matter. They have all been in bed together for sometime. The entire govt/financial/banking system is intertwined.

Also misogynistic. Why single out Nancy Pelosi when there are ten guys wealthier than she is, and the two wealthiest are republican men?

How does male or female matter here? Pelosi was ranked 6th. How does class warfare play in here? These individuals are supposed to be "public" employees.

Does govt regulating companies they are also invested in not concern you? Especially when you are subsidizing it?

Do you get confused when John Boehner gets singled because clearly....they hate that he is a man?

You are posting in a political forum and you cannot figure out the motivation for someone to select Nancy Pelosi?

Wow.

Secret Hint: It must be because she's a woman! shhhhhh! That's why people hated Palin too....because she was a woman....lmfao.

Serious question though, I have to ask because I went to college with a gal that claimed this. Do you feel rockets are designed that way because of aerodynamic properties or because guys just like to make things phallus shaped...engineering be darned?
