Wow. That's a lot of people who are crazy.

One in four adults−approximately 61.5 million
Americans−experiences mental illness in a given
year. One in 17−about 13.6 million−live with a serious
mental illness such as schizophrenia, major depression
or bipolar disorder.

Wow. People be crazy.

I know I feel embarrassed talking to foreigners about the US, because it seems like we're all whacked out here

They want us all to be "whacked out". That is how they earn their living. Nobody can suck it up and just live anymore they all have to blame somebody else for all their problems and go to see the shrink to cry and whine. Just pathetic.

So you'd rather we adopted the Japanese way and hide all of our problems until we throw ourselves onto railroad tracks? Actually, we wouldn't do that. The American way is to shoot up a school or a mall and then shoot yourself

Well, depression, ADHD, drug abuse... These are all relatively common mental ailments. The figures don't surprise me. Life is progressively getting more depressing, so these numbers will only get worse. Is stupidity a mental disorder yet? It should be, but those figures would be absolutely horrific.

Look at all the crap they're putting in our food. Damn near industrial grade chemicals that are found nowhere in nature... All so a twinkie can sit on the shelf for a year and still be deemed edible. Look at the hundreds, possibly thousands of nuclear bomb tests they've conducted out in the desert. No wonder California is so goofy! A good strong wind dumps all that radioactive mess right over L.A.!

Just listening to our decrepit politicians clap their gums is enough to make someone insane. And these are the folks making some of the most important decisions in our country, and decisions that effect each and every one of us. Suddenly, the other end of the barrel doesn't look so bad...

Major depression, bi polar and schizophrenia doesn't mean someone is crazy. What a stigma to put on anyone who suffers form these.

Not surprised one bit. Whether or not you believe the statistics it reveals a dark image to our "great nation" now doesn't it Just imagine for one second if what they say is correct how dysfunctional and broken this place really is when 25% of people suffer from mental illness and 17% serious diseases. Ask yourself will this worsen or improve...

Shrinks like to justify their positions in society.
Pharmaceutical companies like to make a profit.
Many Americans seem to like to allow others to think for them.
Yep it's crazy all right.

Oh when I see folks throwing themselves on railroad tracks (whatever the hell your talking about there) then maybe I'll worry. No the schools and malls are getting shot up because these f'ing shrinks load up these kids on mind altering drugs when their little...........pay attention.

I'm sure the consumer isn't protesting their monthly refill for uppers and/or downers. So long as no one complains, it's business as usual. I just don't understand how lawmakers can throw a fuss about pot when doctors are prescribing straight hard drugs in an Rx bottle. I mean, the wheel is well greased and all, but there is no sound logic behind any of this.
