how will visiting TJ's to load up on yupster edibles displace poor, 'oppressed' black folk?

"Non oppressed populations"? Are black people in Portland, Oregon in 2014 an "oppressed population"? No wonder people are so screwed up if they actually see themselves that way. What a horrible thing to teach their children.

I'm sorry but how is one grocery store going to displace residents? It's a grocery store, not a white housing complex. Besides, TJ is affordable, it's not just for white people. I would think blacks would welcome an affordable grocery store that sells fresh produce instead of the crappy bodega options.

Because they will then start moving in. They won't be satisfied with simply visiting, but it will then become a matter of convenience. Are you unfamiliar with gentrification?

Because it will increase the visibility of their neighborhood to a population of people who have been known to move in and take over when they covet a particular city.

Yep. Ask any black person out there if they've had "The Talk" with their children or got it from their parents as children.

What is the "The Talk" you ask?

It's some variation of a discussion black people have with their children to tell them how bad white people are and how white people cannot be trusted. Many Black children are taught at an early age that white people are just bad. So what do we get? A monolith who feels perpetually "oppressed" because that's what they were taught at an early age.

The Trader Joe's outrage is just an offshoot of this disease plaguing Black America. It's a problem of their own making that they'll never be able to shake as long as "The Talk" is woven into their social and cultural fabric.

Some people just love to B****. Honestly, "food deserts" are lamented in poor/black neighborhoods, and then when a store wants to come in, it's bad and gentrification.

Sorry folks, but nobody is entitled to have their neighborhood stay demographically the way it is forever. That now black/oppressed person neighborhood was most likely somebody ELSE'S neighborhood in the past. Even Harlem (a dutch word, btw) was not always black.
