Great news! For my kids they will be joining American Heritage Girls and Trail Life USA respectively.Love the dodge and deflect in the article claiming they decline is normal blah blah blah...yet refuse to state WHY other than letting open homosexuals in it has dropped.
Its dropping because "Boy Scouts" is no longer cool.. As a former scout, I'm glad they stopped discriminating and doubt its related at all to their policy on gays.
It is nice to see so many bigoted parents pull their kids out of the boy scouts. All it does is to teach their kids how much a bigot their parents truly are. And shamefully many of these kids will follow in their bigoted parents footsteps.
Could be a result of gays. Or maybe just that kids today don't relate to such organizations.
Well we do know at least 1 new group popped up and is gaining a head of steam now since this all happened...My kids are interested in joining their respective groups...me and my wife were in our groups as kids,why wouldn't kids be interested? I guess video games and crappy music is the way to go nowadays.

Wow, you SERIOUSLY underestimate them. My block is full of kids Boy Scout age. And they are hardly video game freaks. One is in Chinese immersion. Another gets speaking parts in big theaters here. The parents think they are capable of more than a merit badge. And they don't have to join an ancient organization to get a social life. I think there was a time in American culture where everything lent to the scouting movement. But I really think all sorts of cultural changes have just left them behind. Too much interest in "the scouting tradition". You can have tradition or you can be leading edge. Very hard to be both.
Boy Scouts membership has been declining every year for the past decade, but sure, blame "the gays".
This was my first thought as well. Seems a strange sort of logic to believe the newly open admission of homosexuals somehow has retroactive repercussions, heh.
I am happy as can be about it. We said it would happen we were ignored and now its happening. Its great news. Can't wait until the boyscouts dip below 1 million members. Guess their idea of allowing homosexuals in worked to well since they haven't joined en masse. The normal members and their kids sure have left though.
What you're saying is that the bigots are leaving and they are teaching their kids their same belief. Otherwise, kids wouldn't leave. It's the parents who influence them. And what exactly is normal......conforming to a standard, your standard.
