Latino children to make up bigger share of population by 2050, study says

The USA is the land of immigrants and they have always been embraced to come to this country, if you have a problem with that, then don't read what is written at the base of the statue of liberty.

Why do so many Americans fear the fact that in 2050, the Latinos will dominate the demographics? What would be so bad if the star spangled banner would one day be sung in Spanish?

A Latino is simply a spanish speaking American. Sure, technically the USA stole the title of "American" but these Latinos are from "North American", "Central America" and "South America".

They are ALL Americans and the only difference is that they MOSTLY speak Spanish (of course except Brazil and Guyanas etc..).

One cannot say that all brown people are Latinos because in fact a Latino is a hybrid race and can be black, white, brown, asian.. you wont know the difference unless you ask.

I am an Iraq veteran and I strongly believe what is the big deal? Let them take over and make the USA better!

Latinos are American but white Anglo Americans only count white people born in the States as Americans.

Even my friends in Canada think that everyone from North, South and Central America are Americans.

I think it may have to do with the US having America in its official name. So it would be confusing to call Americans Statesmen? Idk.

I don't care what race makes up the majority.

I don't see why it even matters. If I've had to deal with a white majority all of my life, I don't see how a Hispanic one would be any different relative to my circumstances.

Well said sir, but be careful because the common American is going to despise such open mindedness.

As long as they provide translators for us and keep English as a second language.

Would EOSL turn into SOSL ?

It wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that most of these immigrants are ILLEGAL (yes OP there is a difference between LEGAL immigration and ILLEGAL immigration). Yes America was founded by immigrants (the LEGAL kind) and immigration continues to be a vital blessing that makes our country great.

HOWEVER illegal immigration is COMPLETELY different! For starters they do NOT assimilate into our society, they just don't care too. Past immigrants learned our language, obeyed our laws, and became part of our society and culture as American Citizens.

Illegal immigrants don't speak English, many of them end up on welfare benefits and other Government programs, they don't pay income or property taxes, many get involved in gangs and smuggle drugs, take away some jobs (not all of them are in fields, some work as dishwashers at restaurants, jobs that could be going to high school kids), and worst of all, many of them end up becoming slaves.

The way to fix this is to offer a path to citizenry, however they must get to the back of the line. The path to citizenry would require being able to speak, write, and read English effectively. Not having a criminal record. Service I the military or attend College, and not being on welfare. And we must secure the boarder, no exceptions.

INB4 liberals call me a racist even though I am not. I don't care if Latinos became the majority, but they need to be assimilated and legal.

It's not a case of open mindedness...if you're black like me, it really makes no difference.
