Urging Republican primary voters to “check the box for another good conservative – Greg Abbott for Governor of Texas,” Palin, via Facebook, claimed that “Greg has overcome many personal obstacles and challenges, which have made him a believer in the power of liberty and the need to defend our freedoms from the overreach of an out-of-control federal government. If he is good enough for Ted Nugent, he is good enough for me!

And this changes him being another washed up celebrity, how?

We all know most celebrities aren't that well educated in general. There are few exceptions. It's unfortunate they're as idolized as they are for anything other than acting/singing.
This goes for both sides... though as we know, most support Dems.

But not surprising someone with a hatred of conservatives would claim otherwise like this. That darn projection again!
That meets with a lot of elected conservatives and is extremely popular amongst conservatives.

Allen West backs Ted Nugent - Darius Dixon - POLITICO.com

Allen West backs Nugent

It was on a phone call with the candidate earlier today that Nugent gave his blessing. He talked to Romney by phone while he was at a sporting goods store in Michigan "celebrating the orgy of guns and ammos and bows and arrows and camouflage clothing and hunting and fishing and outdoor family supplies." - See more at: Romney Actively Sought Nugent Endorsement and Agreed to His Demands to Win It | Right Wing Watch

In yet another example of the right-wing’s incendiary rhetoric promoting violence, Fox News host Mike Huckabee invited NRA board member and washed-up schlock-rocker Ted Nugent onto his radio show to engage in a dialog about the issue that matters most to the Teabagging community: Destroying Democrats.

It didn’t take long before the pair diverted their conversation about the joys of killing defenseless animals, to their undisguised lust for Democratic blood. Nugent began by singing the praises of his dog Gonzo…

Nugent: He really is a mystical, wonderful, huntin’ dog.
Huckabee: Well, maybe we ought to turn him loose on some Democrats and see if he can hunt them too.
Nugent: Well, there’s a lot of varmints out there.

Maybe, demoted for awhile, Nugent does so much through the NRA for wounded vets. I'd sure hate to take that away fro soldiers who get the help Nugent provides.

What he said was disrespectful on all levels. Nugent has to see this kind of language is only for "rockers" not campaigning mode.

Quite disrespectful indeed. Ted Nugent saying what he said is bad enough. However, what is very disturbing to me, albeit not surprising anymore, is that there are those who are defending Ted Nugent's comments. I don't hear much about defending free speech, but the comments that were made. What is disturbing is that there are those who would agree with what he did and what he said. Everyone has free speech. However, it doesn't mean you have to defend what a person said. Nugent has the freedom to say what he said. However, we have the freedom and the responsibility to say "that is wrong, that irresponsible, that is disrespectful".

If a person does not like President Obama's policies, then one doesn't like the policies. However, name calling and racial slurs, that does nothing but cause more problems. Consider this. While else would Ted Nugent get racial other than having bigoted views? One can say "I don't like his views" or "I don't like his policies" and do so in a respectful manner.

Reps to you! I agree with everything you said in your post above. I don't agree with many of the President's policies but what Ted Nugent said about President Obama was way over the line. It was disrespectful, degrading, racist, and totally unacceptable IMO.

Sadly, this is nothing new for Nugent. He's said many disrepectful, degrading, irresponsible things before. Everybody knows that Nugent is a loose cannon! As a result, it's also disturbing to me that someone like Greg Abbott would allow Nugent to campaign with him. That was a very bad decision on Abbott's part IMO.

I feel that one does not have to go lock and step with the President to understand that such comments weren't necessary and were just bigoted. There are many policies of the President that many people won't agree with. Okay. It can at least be accepted that calling someone a "mongrel" is a bigoted comment.

I know about Nugent and some of the things he has said. He also was interviewed by Political Cesspool, a radio show sponsored by White supremacist groups.

I don't know where Greg Abbott stands on some things, but having someone like Nugent campaigning with him, well, it won't help him at all, unless his plan is to attracted the fringe extremists.

It won't hurt him either. Those voting for Abbott, feel the same way as Ted, they just may not be a vocal.
