We have some that always show up on birther threads, at least one of which I really believe is a government disinformation specialist.
They are everywhere. CD is a huge forum with millions of members and gets hundreds of thousands of hits per month. A forum like this one is prime territory for such agents.
Mr. Federal Judge: we have some doctored photos of you posing in front of gay men. If you don't want them circulated, we could use your help in an upcoming case...
This taken from the article should have people thinking, though it isn't new. There are ordinary bloggers, etc.. that report getting threatened in a variety of ways with this kind of thing. Amazing what some human beings are willing to do to others. Make special note of "channel the behavior" and "divorce the behavior from the outcome".

The title page of one of these documents reflects the agency’s own awareness that it is “pushing the boundaries” by using “cyber offensive” techniques against people who have nothing to do with terrorism or national security threats, and indeed, centrally involves law enforcement agents who investigate ordinary crimes:

No matter your views on Anonymous, “hacktivists” or garden-variety criminals, it is not difficult to see how dangerous it is to have secret government agencies being able to target any individuals they want – who have never been charged with, let alone convicted of, any crimes – with these sorts of online, deception-based tactics of reputation destruction and disruption
It's true but if they'd stop to think just a little bit they'd realize what a complete waste of money it is to pay some geek money to try to persuade opinions or to shift attention away from certain issues. They have zero influence and are so vastly outnumbered that their efforts are a whisper in a tornado.
The important thing to remember about this specific leak is this:
This program is not being funded and carried out under the guise of stopping terrorism, or impeding America's foreign enemies abroad, or even all these Chinese hackers.
The explicit goal of this program is to distort public opinion and discourse, whilst destroying any person's credibility who threatens to differ from the agreed upon narrative.
Your tax dollars are being used to intentionally confuse, trick, and discredit you. Cheers.
Yep. It serves to spread disinformation and alter public opinion. It is effective. And we are paying for it with our tax dollars. It's yet another form of propaganda.

To which I would say if it is false who do you think would put this out in the public? Hint: Who has the reputation for attempting to silence anyone who speaks out against Obama
