It would be funny, but now it's happened and we have no answer. The wheelhouse is empty.

They put themselves in this position. So now it's put up or shut up. Don't threaten to do something and then back off.
We seem to be very good at doing that lately in the global arena.

They should have just voiced "concern" and left it at that.
We are the US, not the UN.
You would be saying something if he keep his mouth shut.

Yeah..we're the man with the maxed out credit card telling the bank we're going to stop buying their goods

China could send us into an economic death spiral without firing a single shot.
One massive sell order is all it would take.

Obama won't defend the southern border of the United States. He better not start defending the Ukrainian border.

It's probably time for Obama to go for a few rounds of golf.

No I wouldn't. The US has no business being the boss of global affairs.
We do not rule the world although we think we do.

It's not our place to threaten another country.
We're not defending freedom and democracy when we help overthrow standing governments.

There is absolutely nothing Obama could do to satisfy people like you. So why should he bother trying?

He is handling this exactly how I would want him to handle it: cautiously and slowly.

I don't know if they actually said that, but the principle is basically right. We are not going to directly fight Russia because we are both nuclear powers, it has been that way since the 1950s. Once more we have enough conventional forces to fight any hostile non-nuclear state. The way you fight wars against nuclear states is that when they invade somewhere you give a whole lot of arms and logistical support to the place they are invading so as to make it an untenable situation like the Vietnam war, or the USSR's invasion of Afghanistan. Then the power will fight there for years until war weariness and financial strain force it to give up and they will be weaker because of it.

Seriously this is how wars between major powers have been fought since Korea.

The US has no business there whatsoever and shouldn't be handling ANYTHING.

This is for the UN to handle.
