Kenneth Clodo Santilla was mauled by the giant dog, Trigger, on Friday. The boy’s friend was also attacked along with beast’s owner, Paul Clarke. Paterson detectives plan to review the case with prosecutors and decided whether Clarke will face charges.

With any luck the dog will be put down and the owner do serious jail time. All owners of these animals should be licensed and scrutinized as seriously as any gun owner.

Another article I read on the subject, I do not know the source now, quoted a neighbor saying the dog lived outside and would often get taunted by kids passing by. No doubt the dog was also an unneutered male, which is the vast majority of dogs that attack. It's all a recipe for disaster.

The dog has already been put down and apparently there had been no previous incidents with the dog to indicate this would happen. The dog also attacked his owner.
