I know you consider a normal family to be a man and a woman raising kids. But that doesn't mean a child is being raised in a loving and nurturing environment. The divorce rate is rampant. Some couples are lousy parents. There is nothing special about this so called "normal" family. If a child is raised with love and guidance then it shouldn't matter if they are 2 moms or 2 dads or a mom and a dad.
Now about polygamists ... if there were 20 million polygamists in the US and they had 100 million non-polygamist supporters, and these pro-polygamy folks had hundreds of community centers, and lobby groups, and clubs and societies in every city, and campus organizations, and tons of churches and synagogues willing to bless their polygamous marriages, and Polygamy Pride Parades, and polygamist characters on TV and in the movies, then we would be having a national debate on whether polygamists can legally marry. That hasn't happened - not yet anyway - so let's deal with that many years down the road if that issue ever comes up, but not now, okay?
I never liked "slippery slope" arguments anyway.
Ah, so now we get somewhere...
So, essentially, you are saying 51/49 is the metric the SC uses to determine whether one demographic has their "inalienable right" limited and the other doesn't???
Fix what issue? I'm saying that this normal marriage thing is not the dream some want it to be. Get married today and have kids...divorced 2 years later. What is so special about heterosexual couples having kids where you want to deny gays having them. Makes no sense to me.

If you believe in a western nuclear family....then a heterosexual couple makes perfect sense. A homosexual couple has to jump through hoops and/or hope for a dysfunctional heterosexual relation, to form one.

I'm sorry but some heterosexual couples should never become parents, yet we don't care because they are the opposite sex. That makes it ok. Yet here we have loving gay couples who want kids and we deny them based on their sexuality. It's not right.
