Hard to tell what the real story is here, because there's lots of posturing from those on both sides of the issue, and the reporting is incomplete, partisan, and inflammatory. In any case, I hope this young man can take comfort in knowing that there is life after high school.
This is one time I am going to side with the school district, although reasons not be the same.
I have issues with any yearbook committee selecting a few students to interview for publication in an annual yearbook. That the district scrapped all seven profiles that had been prepared for publication was a sound move.

No, thats the whole "if gay people want to be married, then the state just wont issue marriage licences to anyone" type deal.
Obviously, what the school did was wrong. Perhaps if straight people and conservatives would just accept that the existence of gay people is a FACT of life, then we wouldn't have to even THINK of publishing stories like this in a year book.
The longer conservatives (or regressives, as I like to call them) keep on preventing efforts to work toward acceptance of gay people, the longer we will have to see these types of gay coming out stories and rallies and parades, etc, in order to GAIN acceptance.
Of course, conservative logic never made sense in the first place.
I'm only 31 and I'm old enough to remember when their narrative was "we just want to be left alone".
Now...it's basically the state religion.
No. We simply want the exact same rights that straight people have. Marriage, benefits, etc. Marriage should be based on who you love, not whether the person has a penis or a vagina. Marriage equality will help encourage monogamous relationships. Then, we could do away with all this "domestic partnership" crap.
Same sex marriage is also better for the economy, because governments can collect estate taxes derived from same sex marriages.
Human nature includes homosexuality, even though you wish it didn't.
No it doesn't.
