I think it is inevitable. There is increasingly less need for human labor. Sure everyone could go out and retrain as computer scientists/engineers but there are so few positions available. There will come a time where millions upon millions of people are made redundant.

Minimum wage already does that when it comes to basic needs especially for singles. They need housing, internet (for job applications), cell phone(let's remember this replaced landline), and food. At minimum wage, an individual just makes enough to be over poverty and because the government doesn't have graduated poverty, it is you get under or you don't get any of you are under.

If you are working you are still adding not sucking from others.

Not true. A lot of minimum wage earners get public assistance.

It is true. They are still adding. I don't have a problem with someone working needing a boost here or there.

But they need a bigger boost. Minimum wage part time employees for the entire year, is above poverty levels for single. It's harder to get on above poverty levels. The only one that allows it is Obamacare.

And yet the vast majority of people have been able to do just that when they actually try.

This is economics 101.

Read it. Unlike households the federal government is able to roll over debt and issue its own currency. Minor details.

If you understood economics you'd understand why comparing a household to a government is foolish.

While they work differently in the end it is comparable in that in the end if you owe more than you can either pay back or people conceive you can't pay back, bad things happen.

Others aren't going to be willing to loan $1.00 to get .50 back.
