If you call 30% non-white to INCLUDE African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Hindu's "rapid" then you might have a point but, the FACT remains that America, while continuing to change as it has since it's birth, is/has been anything but "rapid" when you look historically.
Let me help you. 310-315,000,000 (that we know of), roughly 220,000,00-230,000,000 are white. Roughly 71-73%%....roughly 7 out of 10....said another way, 1 out of 4 is either of African, Hispanic, Asian, Hindu, Indian, and god knows whatever other lineage......
220 million White: 70% (2 out of 3)
38.9 million African American: 12.6% (1 out of 8)
14.5 million Asian: 4.8% (1 out of 20)
50 million Hispanic: 16% (1 out of 6)
1.2 million Hindus: 0.04% (1 out of 40)
There's been a large increase of non-whites coming to the US but, I would like to see how fast they were coming, percentage wise (meaning anyone not from the US originally) back in 1900? I believe the landscape was changing even more quickly at that point although the majority were eastern European/white.
soooooo, despite Chris Matthews and the current media's "belief" that the US has 2 whites left in the place, I think there is still considerable ground to be covered before whites are the minority. Like double the current amounts of everyone that is not white. Have to remember, whites proliferate too.....
CNN, Matthews, et al have it wrong.
Whites won't be the minority.. they will be a minority-majority (as in less than 50%, but still the largest make-up.)
Also, Hispanic is not a race, so do not treat it as such.
No, and I hope it continues. Humans will always find plenty of reasons to hate other humans, but epidermal melanin has to be about the stupidest reason we've ever come up with.

Meh, I couldn't care less what happens to the human race or any part of it after I'm gone, or even the earth itself for that matter. As if I could actually have any effect on any of that anyway. As long I'm happy and comfortable in my lifetime. I've never understood why white supremacists, etc. care about the future of the white race.

No.
I'm not Anglo-American, and around the time when my grandparents came here, the more conservative elements of this country had as much of a problem with them as they do with immigrants from "brown" countries to this day. My family has been rather successful in ways that they couldn't have done back in the old country. And no, my grandparents didn't make a swift effort to "assimilate", because feeding their families was more important than the opinions of native-born people.
So, hell no, I don't have a problem with anyone coming here to try and make it.
I don't have a problem with the diversifying demographic itself..I have a problem with the LACK of diversity of the diversifying.
It's basically far too Latino, largely due to illegal immigraiton, and not enough "melting pot", and I think that's setting us up for major problems down the road. If you had equal numbers of immigrants from Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, etc, you'd have more assimilation.
Instead, you have so many Spanish speaking people, and the majority of them from Mexico, that assimilation becomes less and less necessary, and on the contrary, you have pressure on the country to adapt to THEM.
This is not a "I want the country to stay white" issue at all. I want the country to stay American, and not to become LATIN American. There's already a whole continent of Spanish speaking people on this side of the world. We don't need another one.
Why so many people who are here are willing to let that happen so easily, I don't understand.
Increasing numbers of nonwhites and decreasing numbers of whites has never improved a city, state, or country. Only harmed it.
