Modern American Conservatism is in reality Classical Liberalism. Progressives of today share the liberal view that kings are bad, but stop short of the distrust of government held by classical liberals (modern American Conservatives)
WE dont think we invented it, we do however understand we are the defenders of it... (by IT i mean conservatism which is classical liberalism... which is clearly something you dont know that much about)

Same reason right wing ideologies are still relevant despite. Despite massive failures like slavery, woman voting, etc. And as we speak, the Right Wing zealots are about to add LGBT marriage and the legalization of Marijuana to their long list of failures. I don't like any extreme on either side, but let's face it, Right Wings nuts are far worse. I still can't wrap my head around how they used to think it was ok to "own" people and did so in the name of religion. Yet their still around with their war on woman and gays. Wondering who they'll declare on war next after those defeats.
