You're forgetting about the energy to plant, irrigate, fertilize, harvest, process, haul to the joint-rolling factory, and then on to the licensed smoke shop. Even if grown outdoors, there is a huge carbon footprint.

AFAIK, all the licensed pot shops being planned here in Washington state are going to have parking lots. People are going to drive to buy their buy their legal reefer, rather than take transit like they should. And since large swathes of the state, including all tribal lands, will opt out of the legalization, it could be a 100 mile drive to the nearest pot shop.
