A hell that was brought about by his reckless actions. If he had just stayed on his post, he'd be out by now. I won't be surprised if we find out that he sought out the enemy and was actively involved in their movement. He certainly doesn't look like someone that's been through "hell". Harsh conditions maybe, but hardly hell.
Not to mention the obvious: the Taliban and their allies normally don't take prisoners in the first place much less keep them alive for 5 years.
Why keep Bergdahl alive for 5 years unless he was helping them somehow?
I'd be pretty disappointed if I was kept prisoner of war for five years, and then get spit on by fat American civilians on the day of my release. It reminds me of the 1960s when Vietnam vets were getting spit on as they arrived back in US.

He was not a prisoner. He was the GUEST of the Taliban. He freely surrendered to them. He is a deserter and only deserves to be hanged upon his return for "aiding the enemy".

It all depends on whether he was captured or walked in.
If he walked in I understand that in times of stress people will do dumb things but they need to still be pointed out as dumb.
I don't recall any Vietnam soldiers walking into the enemy camp if that is what happened.

The Army is preparing a full, high level investigation and hopefully most people will wait until they conclude their investigation of Berghahl before passing judgement. Unlike you two are doing which is shameful.
