Amtrak owns outright plenty of ROW/property. The Northeast corridor from Washington D.C. to Boston, MA (former Pennsy and NYC ROW) and the tunnels under the Hudson and East Rivers and the Hell's Gate Bridge are a few examples: Amtrak - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Haven't you been paying attention to the details of the BLS reports ?
There you go making stuff up again. Not ALL the jobs are service jobs. Professional and business services, health care and social assistance, food services and drinking places, and transportation and warehousing ALL increased. Most jobs ARE service jobs - it's the biggest sector of the economy (and has been so for ages) but other sectors are growing too.

This is the 4th month in a row with job gains of over 200,000/month. That's the longest run of 200,000+ job gains since 1999 (15 years ago).

Here's what I got from the Amtrak website:
Quote:
Amtrak-owned property includes:
Northeast Corridor: The 363 miles of the 456-mile corridor connecting Washington, Philadelphia, New York and Boston, the busiest passenger line in the country, with trains regularly reaching speeds of 125 - 150 mph (201 - 241 kph). Two sections are owned by others: 1) the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (10 miles) and Connecticut Department of Transportation (46 miles) own 56 miles on Metro North between New Rochelle, NY, and New Haven, CT; 2) the state of Massachusetts owns 38 miles between the Massachusetts/Rhode Island border and Boston that is operated and maintained by Amtrak.
Springfield Line: A 60.5-mile track segment from New Haven, CT, to Springfield, MA.
Keystone Corridor: The 104 miles of up to 110 mph (177 kph) track in Pennsylvania between Philadelphia and Harrisburg.
Michigan: A 96-mile segment of 110 mph (177 kph) track in Michigan and Indiana uses the first high-speed positive train control system in revenue service outside the NEC.
Yet here's the nationwide service of Amtrak:

That shows that a majority of the Amtrak line is not owned and operated by Amtrak and most is in the Northeast. That's great for the Northeast, not for others.

To tie back into infrastructure, we need it but we don't want to pay for it even though it will get this, CREATE JOBS AND THEREBY TAX REVENUE.

Calling people liars with no data to back up your assertion.

Here's 2013..can't find one for 2014 but there can't be that much difference in a year.

Over 90% of the new jobs created were in the low paying service industry.

Go ahead and tell me the NY Times and the Institute for Supply Management are "making stuff up".

Infrastructure scares Republicans. Common sense will not prevail.

Go read your history on Amtrak.
Neither Repubs nor Dems care enough about infrastructure.
They nationalized the passenger railroads and look at the mess it is in today.

The track between Texas and Jacksonville FL was never rebuilt after Katrina...."no money".
The Sunset Limited was the only true transcontinental rail line in America. It ran from LA California all the way to Miami Florida.

Except they're NOT spending it on infrastructure. They're spending it on garbage.

One can argue both sides of the aisle lack common sense in varying ways even on the same issues.

What spending that we are doing right now, do you consider garbage? Before you mention wars, those are sunk costs.
