No it was not. That is such a lie.

Iraq was on its way to becoming a functioning NOTHING from the moment we set foot in that country.

Things looked relatively ok so long as you have a heavy American military presence sitting on everyone's heads, beating those who get out of line (which, by the way, is not very democratic). But how long do you think we can keep that up? a century or two?

At some point you have to leave, and when you leave, the people will go right back to doing what they have been doing for thousands of years before you came.

You cannot turn a third-world nation with a backwards culture into a "functioning democracy" by force on a matter of several years. This outcome was guaranteed from the minute that America decided to commit itself to this mess.

I don't give a rat's ass if Iraq was a model of democracy and freedom and NO WHERE does the Constitution say we should. It was stable and represented no imminent threat to the US when other groups (al Qaeda comes to mind) did. I care that Iraq NOW represents more of a threat than it did before we stuck our nose where it didn't belong and accomplished NOTHING beneficial to the US.

Many countries in the world are hellholes for their people, there is no reason to believe we can(or should) attempt policing the world. Your news source apparently tells you to defend our totally unnecessary, wasteful invasion/occupation of Iraq.

WHEN did Iraq explode under Saddam's watch? Or would you have us believe the consequences of a POTUS's actions end when he leaves office?

It was doing okay until Obama deliberately pushed the Iraq administration to make a deal they couldn't swallow which gave Obama the excuse to walk away from Iraq. He could've negotiated a deal with Maliki, but Obama wanted to wash his hands of Iraq so Obama threw away a war America had won. He threw it away. And now the ME is in flames.

You people are so blinded by your hatred of GWB that you won't let yourselves see the bigger mess this president has created.
