Outsourcing is the first step towards automating. Its the companies motivated most by cost that outsource first, and that will now either outsource again, or go to automation and move it closer to the customer in order to lower transportation costs.

Some of the folks in China are finding out that they are no longer the "bottom" in the race to the bottom as nearby countries are taking work they once took from the US. They aren't happy about it. I pointed out at lunch to one of them "You mean the factory you moved form the US, is now moving to someplace cheaper". The guy had the sense of humor to laugh about it, and agree its not as much fun when its happening to you.

But I've seen factorys become even more automated, and move back here as its cheaper to be close to the customers.

Our average effective tax rate is more than competitive.

Because then we have to cover that tax income in some other way. Might not be a bad plan, if we got the income in some other way to fund our government. The same could be said for personal income. But then you get into the discussion of what do we replace it with, and how much, and everyone freaks out. Because this may sound strange....we want businesses to pay some money, not just people.

Course with a 0 business tax the rest of the world would be pissed at us beyond belief. lol.

I'm some of the earlier debates from history:

1840 - Should we allow railroads, photography, telegraphy ...

1900 - Should be allow moving pictures, phonographs, automobiles ...

1950 - Should be allow atomic energy, computers ...

No it is not why they move overseas. The move overseas to keep their reserves out of the reach of the US government and use the overseas location to minimize or eliminate any US taxes. If you eliminated all corporate taxes they would do exactly the same thing. They prefer doing business outside of US law.

I would think it could be easily thwarted by an excise tax on any item manufactured abroadbased on US ownership or creation or use of US designs or parts. Call it the cost equalization act.

You understand that the big thing that really goes on here is the inflation of the cost at which goods are imported...thus making the foreign entity much more profitable than the US one. So you just set up a tax on the value added in the foreign country that is higher than the cost of manufacturing here.

Or just an idea...WE CUT SPENDING!

And income from the millions of jobs created would more then make up for it..

You cant be pro jobs but anti business.
You cant be pro employee but anti employer..Its just not possible.
