I guy heads out to a community of big hearted progressives to sign a petition to import 200 or so of these illegal alien minors crossing the border. If they agree, and sigh the petition he asks then to fill out another one to sponsor one of the 200 kids in their home - with predictable results.
It sounds great at first blush, "yes, sure it would be wonderful to invite these 200 children to live in my city" but when you actually come face to face with the realization that these are real children and will need to be taken care of..., then it's not okay.
I think some simple, but well meaning people want to do the right thing, but the do not think past the noses on their face. It's as if they think some magical government person will swoop in and take care of these kids, and they might hear about it on the news, but they will not actually be in your home, take up classrooms in your schools, or cost you your money to care for them.
Two hundred children, at $10,000 each to put thru school, and other social welfare matters, comes to $2 million in extra taxpayer dollar expenditures.
Says it all. Of course when they signed the first petition, they were imagining the new arrivals flooding into some rural area/small town full of the Wrong Kind of White People. They wouldn't even want these kids anywhere near their neighborhoods, nevermind in their actual homes.
