Obama has been a Godsend to the gun and ammunition manufacturers. The government has created a shortage of ammo, driving up the prices.

Where did you find that deal?

Again with the 'liberals hate guns' fallacy.

The anti-gun sentiment is more regional and cultural than political. I admit there is a corellation since urbanites tend to be leery of or outright anti-gun, but not every urbanite is liberal, and not every liberal is an urbanite.

I live in a relatively small city (not a metropolis, anyway) and only the most ardent peaceniks are anti-gun. Out in the country around here every pot smoking hippie has at least one or two guns, and there are more than a few Priuses and Volvos parked outside the gun range.

I'm a liberal that has fired more different types of weapons (thanks to my stint as an infantryman) than most conservatives I know and I still don't get the gun fascination. It's just a damn gun..big deal.

I've seen more punks packing pistols than I can count.. You conservatives are easily impressed I guess.

It's laughable. They equate manliness with gun ownership.

Again, I'm from a state with the most lax gun laws in the country, and half the open carry clowns around here are sissies without a pistol. Hell...they're sissies WITH a pistol too.

Nonsense. Plenty of reasons to enjoy them. My own preference is for older ones, especially when well made or of unique mechanical design. The aesthetics are similar to many other hobbies and seemingly odd things that people collect and have interest in - old tools, cars, scientific equipment, medical equipment - I've known people to collect all these things, just for the pleasure of the collecting.

They also require some skill to use well, and the practice of any skill is satisfying to a person.

They also go bang - just like the ever popular firecrackers only more so. I don't know why humans like things that go bang, but they certainly seem to.

And of course, some are attracted by the "I'm a badazz" self image of gun ownership.

One need not subscribe to any of these views to be able to understand them - all that is needed is a mind open enough to realize that not everyone will share your own view of the world.

I would speculate that you do indeed "get it" - you just don't approve of it.

I approve of a good steak and a glass of wine.

What you love or don't love is none of my concern and whether or not I approve of it is none of yours. I'm not the least bit interested in your guns, your reasons for having them, or how many you have.

So don't engage in too much self flattery.

I went shooting for the 1st time in May - LOVED IT! It was much harder than I thought it was going to be (the aiming part was a little tricky for me - 9mm). But the second round I did much better - 9 out of 10 rounds hit the center part of the target.

Flattery of you or me has nothing to do with it. I take issue with your choice of words because I find that choice to be inaccurate and it tends to paint that which you don't "get" as something no reasonable person would "get".

What you don't approve of is quite clearly your own business, that is why I prefer the word over "getting it".

I have no doubt you are not interested in anyone else's choices, previous conversations have shown that quite well.
