The first ones blamed when something goes wrong........the first ones called WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG.

Being criticized for being too militarized?? In the middle of a hostile crowd?? Really??

Flaming cocktails......rocks........guns!!

Let me tell you something.....if I have a dad, mom, brother or sister on the force, I WANT THEM ARMORED AND PROTECTED!!

I WANT THEM TO BE ABLE TO COME HOME AFTER THEIR SHIFT IS OVER.....

We keep demonizing them.....making them to be inhuman or robots. They have families too.

And if people would STOP acting a plumb fool, they would NOT be there.

People go home and wait on the investigation......the police will leave too.

Thankless job

I understand your point, it's a dangerous job, without much appreciation. However, there will always be plenty of people that want the power, authority and image of a cop.

My sister was a 911 operator for a while after she got out of the military.
After 1 year she left. If the slightest thing goes awry everyone starts blaming the 911 operator.

We have become a nation where someone else is to blame, someone else has to be punished.

Yep. Plus the pay, 20 year pension and civil service bennies.

There will NEVER be a shortage of cop candidates.

It isn't a thankless job by any stretch. People still respect police and the work they do.

You guys see a few incidents, and get carried away.

What people don't like is a video montage showing cops brutally beating the hell out of people and abusing their authority.

But Americans overwhelmingly respect law enforcement...maybe too much.

There are a lot of bad cops out there. Even the good cops enforce bad laws.

It is the duty of every citizen to resist unjust laws, and that means rubbing law enforcement the wrong way.

Its not a thankless job. Used to be a sheriffs deputy would drive you home when he found you drunk, now he gives you a dui. Used to be when a husband and wife fought, the officer would tell them to calm down and give someone a place to sleep for no charge. Now you go to jail and ruin your life.

The point is this. Many people haven't had run ins with law enforcement in the 21st century. They don't know what its become.

Its become a way to put people in jail for ridiculous things, and fines for the local county and city. Its why they have quotas on speeding tickets, and why ive seen 80 yr old grandmas in court for 3 over in a 55. No lie

We have become an overwhelming litigious society ruled by lawyers(they rule the media), where any false move means $. It has destroyed common sense.

Who gets blame or gets off from blame is entirely ruled by $.

You have egos in EVERY profession..... Some doctors think they are gods over their patients and ruin lives........But you don't demonize all doctors..........

I could go on and on...............bad apples in every field.

But to expect these officers to let down their guard some those folks FEEL BETTER, is just ridiculous!
