I get a kick out of many country songs. Sometimes They are kind of holy in their politics (as if all country fans are straight, Christian, and conservative). But often they are just fun, catchy, and speak to the person on who chooses to work hard, love someone and be loyal, and kick up their heels now and again. What'a not to like?

It's good background music and has good stories. For example:

There's also one of my favorite songs, "Drunk on a Plane":

Country Music has the best writers and performers today by far. I love Florida Georgia Line....Get Your Shine On, This is how we roll, Dirt, People Back Home, Cruise, Party People....and their videos kill.

"Lefties who like country" is about like "righties who like pretty much any other form of popular culture." Sometimes you like it despite the message.

I like just about all genres of music except for country and christian music, but that's jut me. I should mention that have nothing against the religion and grew up listening to christian music via religious parents and family, but in IMHO, the music is terrible and will put you to sleep.

There are a few country artists I like. Trace Adkins, Trish Murphy. Some George Strait.

Steve Earle is pretty far to the left but he's not my cup of tea.

I'm old, so the country stuff I like is from way back in the 70s/80s. Waylon Jennings, Don Williams, Brooks & Dunn, Hank Jr (before he went loco), Dwight Yoakam, Steve Earle...

The emotionality and preachiness of the songs. The lyrics seem to pander to people who have lower levels of education and are overly emotional. That and the slow pace though the more modern songs are more or less pop.
