If someone wants to buy a BB gun, the gun should be handled by the STAFF of the store and taken to a REGISTER for him to purchase at the end of his shopping trip.
Shouldn't be allowed to play James Bond in the aisles of Walmart flashing a gun at people.
In my opinion, cops actions were justified, the guy was walking around the store with it in the open flashing it around. If he wasn't giving people a reason to feel threatened, he would be alive today.
I would say he took the gun out of the box and was playing around with it, like pretending he was shooting someone. If so, this is a good way to get yourself killed, not only by police, but by a legally armed citizen who feels threatened.
He was warned to put the gun down, what part don't you get about he did not comply?
I don't think that is known. From accounts the guy was 'leaning on the BB gun' talking on the phone and when confronted he said "It's not real", then shot.
I'm going to wait to hold any judgement. In any event- Isn't that a right to carry state? Was he pointing it at the officer or what? Waay to soon to judge.
Yes, so if it is legal to sell, why would someone be shot for maybe carrying the item to check out?
I don't think that the person who called 911 did so because the guy was black (not as trusting of the cops), but I think people are so terrified of guns in this society that they freak out--it could have been an actual toy and someone might have called. This is what the NRA and gun culture have done to our society.
No, the problem is, it is known we are a gun culture, so why not educate children on guns and gun safety, I bet there would be a lot less accidental deaths and less deaths all the way around. The NRA has offered gun safety courses since their inception. They do more than promote guns alone.
