Different cultures CAN be trouble: different "races" with SIMILAR cultures, not so much.
Blacks have been in the United States for hundreds of years and they do have a distinct culture when compared to the whites. So, can you really separate race and culture?
Things like Ferguson, MO or the Los Angeles Riot in the 90s or the Trayvon case would never happened in societies like Japan or China.
Does that say something about multi-cultural or multi-racial society?
They're only less stable when you have the wrong mix of people living together, namely too many blacks and Muslims.
I live in Toronto one of the most multicultural cities in the world and those are the only two groups that cause any significant amounts of trouble here. Luckily with Muslims its relatively little so far except for a supposed plot to bomb Toronto landmarks or something along those lines a few years back. But with blacks, there's always a shooting, stabbing or some other crime involving blacks nearly every week. If it wasn't for them, Toronto would probably have a hard time going over even 40 murders per year for a city and surrounding area of 5.6 million people.
Blacks make up only 7% population here yet cause the majority of crime while the 93% of the rest of the GTA's population of various nationalities and ethnicities can get along and live with each other pretty peaceful and with few problems. This is the same for most every western nation where its the same two groups that cause the most trouble while everyone else have few issues and cause few problems.
So yes I'd say most definitely having a multicultural society is easily doable as long as you have the right kind of ethnicities together. And I think its good to have a diverse society as you can learn and experience many cultures and meet different people without having to go too far, but conversely it can turn bad quick if too many bad elements come and settle in your city as well.

What are you saying? Sub-Saharan genes are bad?
Do you think it has something to do with lack of mixing with other pre-historic humans (i.e. Neanderthal), since Sub-Saharan Africans (blacks) were the ONLY group in the world who do not have Neanderthal mix in them.
That old adage still holds true...."United we stand but divided we fall" and we are becoming more divided as time goes on.
Has there ever been a united nation with different ethnicities and cultures in history?
