What morons we have in power......
Just think how many people one a week could infect let alone 100.
There is not a single developed country with modern health care systems in the entire world that is restricting travel from west African nations. Health experts are virtually unanimous that such measures are both unnecessary and ineffective. Of course, the right wing is not known to be swayed by science and expert opinion. No, rather the health professionals are all morons and the right wing talk hosts are the ones to listen to.

Here's the deal; you're the one screaming about this so, YOU get involved, unless of course whining on a public forum is your one and only forte.
I want Obama to shut down travel from affected countries.

If you want travel to continue, you should volunteer to put YOUR life and money on the line, rather than volunteering others to sacrifice themselves.

And that goes for everyone here who advocates continuing to allow this insanity to continue.

There are only 4 hospitals in America equipped to handle Ebola patients, with a total of 15 rooms so equipped.

20 cases will cause a crisis. 50 will overwhelm the health care system. 100 will cause the economy to come to a stop.

I am an on again/off again hospital volunteer who receives weekly emails from the hospital.

Going back to SARS, they began questioning patients about recent travels, even if one presented with a broken arm. They did the same for H1N1 and last year for MERS. They were on top of West Africa in early September. They made it their business to stay on top of global epidemics.

This hospital belongs to one of the 5 largest private healthcare systems in the US. None of their hospitals are BSL- 4 rated, nor is infectious disease one of their strongholds. When it comes to infectious disease, bigger may be better. Bigger can afford to take responsibility, invest in staying on top of infectious disease exposures and maintain a reasonable semblance of protocol and drills, albeit, not perfect.

Boston University has been embroiled in decade plus state, county and local controversy and litigation about a proposed BSL-4 lab. It has crossed political party lines.

It will take years and federal, state and private funding to expand the national network of BSL- 4 hospitals and labs.

That is complete and utter baloney! It does not take a level 4 hospital to deal with Ebola. The County hospital in Phoenix has been on the TV the last two nights discussing all the preparations they have made and expressing their confidence in their ability to handle whatever comes through the door. Just because the hospital in Dallas was unprepared and a total f-up, doesn't mean they all are.

The best plans go out the window when the war starts.
Your Phoenix Hospital will falter when Ebola hits their ER.
They are doing crowd control at this point.

Good. Hope the next few flyers choose Phoenix. Will you be volunteering your time at the hospital when they arrive?

Yeah, I love all the new experts out there about Ebola. Hospitals and the CDC are learning on the fly. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...l-workers.html

Yes, of course. Dallas Presby is a model of preparation yet it failed there. We are all doomed.
