Nonsense, Shabazz, but that discussion is not the topic of this thread.

Does anyone really look around this country anymore and say, 'you know what we need? More illiterate, uneducated illegals.' Who would support more of this same immigration policy except for their own already here? It's ashame politics will allow us to reach a point of no return due to political pandering

Well first of all, Hispanics are not a single monolithic group of people. Mexicans are not Cubans, and Salvadorans are not Puerto Ricans. Mexicans in the Southwest don't give a flying beep about Puerto Rican issues.

Puerto Ricans for instance are Americans. They don't give a s--t about illegal immigrants from Guatemala. Their concerns primarily revolve around the status issue, and normal American issues like the economy, healthcare, crime, etc. The Guatemalans on the other hand are more concerned with amnesty for illegal immigrants.

And from what I have seen, the longer Hispanics have been in this country, the more Republican they get. My Mom's side of the family is Mexican and they have been here for generations, and they are business owners who vote Republican. My Mexican Grandma can't stand Obama. My Mom's parents were born in the US and her and her siblings all went to college. Their families are all well off. I think the longer the generations have been here, the more conservative it may get like I said. They are all against illegal immigration and have seen first hand the problems of illegal immigration with the crime, gangs, and poverty. I suspect it is the same way with many Mexican families. Those who may vote Democrat today, their kids and grandkids will be more integrated with American culture and less "culturally Mexican."

Top issue for Hispanics? Hint: Its not immigration

Immigration policy is determined by the federal government and they often take into consideration international opinion when formulating immigration policies. That often conflicts with what Americans want, which is more restrictive immigration. The US for example wants better relations with India but they have to loosen H1B restrictions since the Indians want that as a condition of better relations with the US. The US also has to not damage relations with Mexico which is why there is almost no crackdown on illegal immigration from Mexico since illegal immigrants in the US are a big source of revenues for Mexico.

Yes, it's hopeless, which is why dems are openly fretting about a wave GOP vote and the GOP taking the Senate in the midterms.

They are also petrified that black turnout will be very low:

dems are doing great but they can't even get their most reliable bloc to turn out.
