On a constant, howling, screaming, ranting basis, the left accuses the right of being selfish... I know it's not true, and here's some interesting writing on the topic.
I don't normally read RT, but now and then I stumble across something itneresting.
Conservative states give more than liberal ones. That's voluntary giving. And the "not wealthy" give more than the wealthy, in terms of a share of their income.
Again, I don't find it surprising at all. It mirrors my life's experience.
Yes, and if you espouse a system that requires one to be of service to the rest of society in order to prosper, that is selfish too. But it is NOT selfish to hand out wealth as sort of a prize for breathing. Go figure.

This makes sense about Utah..its the most "religious" state and they give 10% to the church...its a flawed study if they go by tax returns alone.
It's not selfish to defend yourself or your property. If someone wants to steal your wallet, is it selfish of you to resist? How is it any different when people use government as a tool to do the exact same thing?

Oh, yes, those generous liberals, who never write off a thing, you know, like all the famous liberals, who even try to ITEMIZE giving away underwear as a tax write off (Clintons).
It's like my liberal "compassionate" friends who will join me for lunch to lecture me about why some business that they don't own or know anything about must pay their employees $20 an hour to work a cash register. "You can't survive on minimum wage," they'll tell me moments before leaving a $2 tip on a $40 bill.
I have to leave a few extra bucks on the table once they get up to leave because it's so embarrassing.
I don't believe in charity. I'll give to my alma mater and organizations I was previously affiliated with. I will not give to charity. We fix these issues through policy.
