Sigh. Lots of older folks here, having pictures of yourself unclothed is extremely common in younger folks, they DO send them to certain folks, but it varies. no its not all of them but it is in fact the vast majority.
I occasionally buy storage lockers at auctions, you'd be amazed at what people have pictures of on things. Both print, and electronically. most don't even password protect things.

Their parents or someone need to share with them the dangers of photos like these being around. Not only a cop could get a hold of those pics.
People with a .29 BAC aren't known for having the best judgement. Apparently in CA someone who is drunk can't legally give consent to have sex, but can consent to having the police access to their data.
So one CA cop is a pervert, not sure why is this even newsworthy. Another opportunity for people to bash police officers, I guess.
Human nudities are beautiful, I drew so many. I love to draw beautiful naked men. So what? But if I share their naked pictures with other girls, I can get sued. This cop is an idiot, but he is only responsible for his own actions.
This isn't about nudity. It's about abuse of power. And yes, ALL abuse of power should be exposed. Exposure is one of our weapons to fight it.

I've never said it is about nudity. I mentioned nudity because several posters here seem to believe it is absurd for a women to have naked photos of herself on her phone. What is wrong with that?

It is law enforcement's right to look. But, of course, not to share or keep copies.
NO, it is NOT their right to look UNLESS either A, you give consent; B, they have a warrant. Being drunk and password protecting your phone is NOT giving consent
The sad reality is nobody will be arrested or fired.
We can be fairly sure of this, because the reporter who reported this has since found similar incidents in other police departments across the country. Two cops were fired in Houston over this in 2005, but other similar cases in NY and CA did not result in firings. None of the cases resulted in criminal charges against the cops. California highway patrol officers share naked photographs of women in their custody.
To me they should be not only fired, but should wind up as registered sex offenders. Explain to me how this is different from a peeping tom or upskirt camera sleezeball?
