This isn't a civil suit by the family. These would be criminal charges brought by the DOJ.
I expected a civil suit by the family, but hasn't happened. They did get $$$ from the Homeowners Association.
Impartial explanation:
There is no civil suit because as you correctly noted, they already got 7-figs from the homeowners association and Zimmerman has no money, you don't sue empty pockets.
On top of that, in a civil trial, all kinds of stuff would be able to come out about Trayvon that would make the entire story a lot less sympathetic as it would get into background stuff not allowed in the criminal trial.
True junk, I just SMFH at how stupid this country has become.
But hats off to the pandering people, must pretend like the KKK, racists/racism and slavery are still keeping AAs down........don't want to admit the brutal truth.
If he was Black this would just be another of the hundreds of Black on Black crime that happens every month.
Does the DOJ get involved in any Chicago Black killings lately?
If both Zimmerman and Martin were of the same race; we never would have heard about it.
If Zimmerman was black and Martin was white; we probably would have never heard about it. Zimmerman might have even been viewed as a hero defending himself from a racial motivated attack.
But Zimmerman is white (well, sorta) and Martin was black and in the early days of the case the media purposely left out important facts and even manipulated audio evidence to support the narrative that Zimmerman shot Martin because he was a paranoid racist.
Do I think Zimmerman is a saint or a hero? No. Even taking the smear campaign out the picture, he doesn't seem like a greatest guy and a bit on the overzealous side. But I don't think he was in the wrong that night.
Just so you know, it's not about race. Roderick Scott (a black man) shot and killed a white teenager who charged him when Scott confronted him about breaking into cars. I don't think Scott was in the wrong either.
"A federal grand jury will meet in downtown Orlando Wednesday to hear testimony about whether Trayvon Martin's civil rights were violated when Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman shot him in the chest, according to court paperwork."
If this is true, the timing isn't coincidental, imo.
this should have never gone to the feds at all. after all, you really cannot claim a civil rights violation when you are on top of another person beating their brains out.
"Campaign pieces featuring a photo of a lynching and a radio ad that refers to the killing of Trayvon Martin are being used in North Carolina to energize black voters to re-elect Sen. Kay Hagan. In Arkansas, black voters are being courted by ads suggesting that the GOP is trying to impeach President Barack Obama and is “targeting our children.” African-American voters in Georgia are seeing ads that focus on threats to Obama’s presidency rather than on the Democratic Senate candidate, Michelle Nunn.
Desperate to turn out African-American voters -- a critical sector of the party base -- Democratic candidates and party operatives are using racially charged images and language in the final days before Election Day. It's difficult to gauge the strategy's impact on black voter turnout because the approach is almost unheard of."

Fear mongering and demonization at it's worst.
Dishonorable as it gets.
