For decades, we enjoyed nice weather. Now, all over the USA people are freezing their butts off. 1360 record low temps in a week and over 30,000 low temp records over the past year. Surely Al Gore and his rich buddies and Obama and his government can do something about this. We even have 70 year to 120 year old records being broken.

Please Mr Obama, bring back global warming!!! I might even buy a Prius if you will just get rid of this wicked cold weather.

Just pointing out that it is 72 degrees in Hawaii so you may wish to change your title; but it is bloody cold in Alabama right now (we split out year between the 2 States).

Think of the environment like a pendulum on a grandfather clock. Normal swings from side to side at a certain rate.

Now push it a little bit. Now it swings wider.

That is climate change. More radical swings in weather. Extreme heat, Extreme dry/wet conditions, Extreme cold, stuff like that. The more extremes you see, the more the climate change is effecting it.

BTW, I wonder how those folks in Buffalo are enjoying their 60-70 inches of "global warming?"
The 5 or so that have died really weren't enjoying it. I wonder if those poor dead souls were believers of global warming. Hope nobody else dies as a result of this extremely cold weather.

Threads like these just highlight how much people don't understand how climate change works.

You are right, I don't understand (or believe) 'Climate Change'. While you explain it to me,
please tell me how the first 6 or 7 Ice Ages happened, before Humans caused this alleged
climate change.

Well, one example of climate change was when we started having bacteria producing oxygen for the first time. The Earth didn't have much, so it killed a great number of creatures who had gotten used to a more CO2 atmosphere. Oxygen was toxic. Of course, some life survived and thrived. This lead to us.

When the Earth was younger, the Sun was colder. Also, our orbit was more radical at the time, with the moon closer to the planet. Now we've stabilized more with time, and the Sun has gotten hotter as it will continue to do.

Large numbers of plants making O2 could start causing massive forest fires.

There are lots of things on a global scale that can cause issues.

The most likely explanation for ice ages is changes in Milankovitch cycles, affecting the amount of solar radiation the Earth receives. We know that the amount of radiation we are currently receiving should mean cooling, but instead we are warming.
