The Dream Act in Dec 2010 needed 60 votes to end the Filibuster, 5 democrats crossed over defeating the measure 55-42, 5 votes short. No republicans voted for the act.

So now you can maybe answer the question why, there was not even a vote in the house on the senate bill in 2013.

A few Republicans were pledged to support the Dream Act in the US Senate if they got increased border security first.

Democrats do not want the border secure and Harry Reid is senile enough to claim that the border is in fact secure. Obama is encouraging more to come with his actions.

An anwer is not needed. Your boy couldn't get it done when he owned all three branches of government and had enough Democrats to pass what ever he liked.

Congress is functioning exactly the way it was designed.

Border security did no work before with more walls and increased security, building a wall around a nation is simplistic and failed solution to a complicated problem.

Well evidently he didn't "own" all three branches of government or it would have passed.
He did not have enough democrats to overcome a filibuster still waiting for an answer on the 2013 senate bill, why not a vote ????????

In fairness, that was an extremely short time frame. Between seats held up in dispute, Senators in the hospitals, and Congress out of session there was, what? 60, 75 nonconsecutive days where the Democrats fully controlled everything?

Right, more security is simplistic to solving a border crisis... Just admit that you don't want a compromise. Compromise is one side giving in to your side.

As Obama said in 2006 - illegal aliens are burdening our social safety net and hurting blue collar workers - let's encourage more to come!

That's not true. The bills that were sent to the Senate and blocked were draconian attacks on the social safety net of our nation, or repeals of the ACA, another social safety net.

The Democrats have their own definition of "compromise" in their Demtionaries. They have their own definitions of terms like success, failure, and the like as well, but that's all for a different thread.

You're right. We have a concept that is inclusive in all our {"Demtionaries"} that republicans are unfamiliar with. It's called Compassion. All our compromises are tempered with a good dose of compassion. We are dealing with human beings, after all. The president used that word once tonight in his speech and it set off a firestorm of Republican hate and loathing so powerful that it caused threads on immigration all over the internet to be closed at once, due to the vituperative and vile responses.

Gotta wonder........
