The White House Killed the House Bill - Obama is ONLY interested in HIS "comprehensive" Immigration Bill ..... sorta like the ObamaCare bill and the Stimulus Bill. Tons of pages that nobody understands with LOT's of little Poison Pills imbedded in it.

How Immigration Died|The Hill 11/2/13

Rep. Luis Gutiérrez’s phone was ringing. It was President Obama’s chief of staff.

Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) was part of a bipartisan group of lawmakers in the middle of May that was on the cusp of a breakthrough agreement on immigration reform.

Denis McDonough told Gutiérrez that Obama opposed a key concession that Democratic negotiators had made to House Republicans.

Sen. Charles Schumer later called. The New York Democrat, the architect of more liberal legislation from the Gang of Eight that was advancing in the Senate, delivered an even blunter message.

“Stop the progress on the House bill,” Gutiérrez described Schumer as saying. “I want you to stop. You are damaging the Senate proposal moving forward.”

Because the Senate bill includes a path to citizenship and the House does not support this. Obama has stated he will not consider any bill that does not include a path to citizenship and as a result, all of the immigration bills sent from the House to the Senate have been tabled by Reid. So, it's an impasse since Obama will not compromise on the citizenship issue.

Actually, southbel, a compromise would lie between the House and senate version. Not explicitly picking ones favorite version.

A compromise, by definition, means both sides get less than they both passed..individually.

We should be faulting both the House and Senate, as a committee of both should have worked out a compromise.
