The current occupier of the White House has said he would proceed with Amnesty "immigration reform" though Executive Order.
Republicans have gave a warning signal (like an Indian smoke signal) saying No, don't do it!

Could this be a treasonous act by the president and warrant impeachment?
Afterall, isn't it in the Constitution:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. The Constitution, Article I, Section 3

Executive order is not law its just a order to not enforce to agencies. the law of 1980's is still the law of the land. In other words next president can change it.

uhhhhhh....while he can pardon past illegal behavior, I don't think he can pardon ongoing behavior.

[quote=Spaten_Drinker;37233412]Immigration policy falls under the powers of the Congress, not the Executive Branch. To usurp that authority is an impeachable offense. No amnesty or path whatever you want to call it either.

Stop dreaming about impeachment. It ain't gonna happen although i wish the Republicans would attempt to do so. I'd even contribute a nice sum to the movement.

Is it a high crime or misdemeanor?

Nope. Congress writes the laws, the Executive executes the laws. If he says "No more deportation unless they have a felony arrest record" there isn't a damned thing Congress can do to stop him.
