As recently as 2000, the US economy was TRIPLE that of the Chinese economy. Thanks to China most favored nation trade status, the bastard child of Bill Clinton, the Chinese economy is larger than that of the US!

It

Hillary wants to "recreate" the Clinton presidency. I wonder which nation she will sell out to?

China received most favored nation status in 1980 under Carter, it was renewed by subsequent Presidents (Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton) and made permanent by Bush 2 in 2001.

Hardly any economists disagree with liberalized trade policies. We are not the only nation China trades with. I personally benefit from inexpensive Chinese goods as do millions of other Americans. Let me add that resistance to NAFTA and most other trade agreements is almost entirely from the Democrat Party.

While the US is waging all these unnecessary wars for the last 20 years, wasting billions of dollars, China was doing business, gaining new markets and taking advantage of US stagnant economy.

Anyone who thinks that China should *not* be the world's largest economy is either a person who needs some geography lessons or a person who thinks the giant mass of chinese people should remain dirt poor.

It was always coming. Deal with it.

China being #1 hasn't really affected my life at all, so I don't really care. In fact, it's actually benefited us by providing us with cheap goods. Good for them, I say. I'd still rather live in America over China any day of the week. And in terms of per capita GDP we're still ahead of China, as well as every other large country.

Raise hands, everyone who thinks there will now be a stampede of impoverished American immigrants into glittering, wealthy China.
