Did somebody at a news conference about the latest Missouri killing REALLY say that the dead man had a "9mm Hi-Point pistol, with 5 rounds in the chamber and one in the magazine"??
Please tell me I heard that wrong, and nobody that would be representing the police at a news conference is that dumb!
But, if you heard it too, then I guess a police representative actually IS that dumb!
Note to the representative: Be sure brain is in gear before putting mouth in motion!
You do realize we aren't all sitting there watching TV with you, nor are we all watching the same tv channel as you. Maybe a link to video from what you saw would be much more useful than this...

Understandable error by someone not familiar with firearms.
I did get a laugh, although- Note that the weapon was a "Hi-Point" and not a Kimber, Sig, or H&K!

Well, since I heard it on the radio on the way to town this morning at 0700, it would be quite difficult to get a video clip for you.
No, it was NOT Fox radio.
It was part of a news conference reported on by Morning Edition (IIRC) on NPR. Supposedly the person was a police department spokesperson.

Well then you would need to provide an audio clip because not everyone here was listening to the same radio station or riding in the car with you.
St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said the officer was questioning two men — one later identified as 18-year-old Antonio Martin — late Tuesday about a theft at a Berkeley convenience store when Martin pulled a 9mm handgun on the officer.
The officer stumbled backward but fired three shots, one of which struck Martin, Belmar said. No shots came from Martin’s loaded gun, the chief said.
Some protesters questioned why the officer couldn’t use pepper spray or a stun gun.
Are some people really this stupid? The dirtbag had a loaded firearm. Thank GOD there was some type of video present or the "peaceful" protesters would be burning and looting 3 times as hard.

I would be curious to know if he man actually had a gun on him or if the officer "found" a gun on him after shooting him.
