There's room to debate THIS, but why not start with the obvious Social programs they are absolutely not authorized to intervene in? We have regulatory agencies MAKING LAW. This should be the first order of business when deciding what to cut.
As for the rest, cosider Thomas Jefferson and his Bush-like response to the Barbary Pirates.
Jefferson wanted to stop Pirates attacking our ships. No one is or have ever argued we should not defend ourselves when attacked here or where we have a proper right to be. (international waters) Iraq never attacked us. Afghanistan never attacked us. Libya never attacked us. Isis does attack us when we are intervening in their countries.
I also never argued the ones you point out shouldn't be cut.
Do you have any idea why we have bases in various parts of the world? Do you think that makes us an "occupying" force?
Besides, I didn't know this thread was about defense spending. I thought the OP was asking where we should cut. Seems to me, the place to start is where the FEDERAL government has NO RIGHT spending the American Taxpayer's money.
They have NO RIGHT to spend my money defending Japan and South Korea.
To those who advocate for smaller gov't how do you decide what to cut and why to get this smaller government?
There is more Government agencies that even Wikipedia can find. We can Start A thru l and I bet we can eliminate 50 % of those. We mush decide as Americans "What is really Important"
I dare the reader to Google the questions" How any agencies and Departments does the Federal Gov. Run.???
I know how you feel ..they have no right spending my money building a bridge in Detroit I will never drive on.
Which bridge in Detroit is that?
I mean, isn't Detroit in the United States? I know it's been a while since i've been there, and it's a couple of thousand miles from my hometown, but i thought i was still in this country when i last passed through there.
You tell me.
