What the Barbary Pirates Teach Us About ISIS
Jefferson wanted to stop Pirates attacking our ships. No one is or have ever argued we should not defend ourselves when attacked here or where we have a proper right to be. (international waters) Iraq never attacked us. Afghanistan never attacked us. Libya never attacked us. Isis does attack us when we are intervening in their countries.

I also never argued the ones you point out shouldn't be cut.

Besides, I didn't know this thread was about defense spending. I thought the OP was asking where we should cut. Seems to me, the place to start is where the FEDERAL government has NO RIGHT spending the American Taxpayer's money.
They have NO RIGHT to spend my money defending Japan and South Korea.

And yeah...we're an occupying force.

You cut their power, then they have nothing to sell to corporate interests.

I dare the reader to Google the questions" How any agencies and Departments does the Federal Gov. Run.???

Cut everything by 10% to start with. Equalizes the whining about who suffers and how unfair it is.

All budgeting should begin bottoms up, not based on the previous year. Let's see where things stand and go from there.

Which bridge in Detroit is that?

I mean, isn't Detroit in the United States? I know it's been a while since i've been there, and it's a couple of thousand miles from my hometown, but i thought i was still in this country when i last passed through there.

You tell me.
