So EVERY poor person lives beyond their means and emphasizes consumption? Think about this now...every single one?
If you have to borrow money, If you can't put money aside for your future, then yes, you are living beyond your means. Most people do, it's just to the extent that they live beyond their means, our government also lives beyond the means it's citizens can support.
Yeah me too. I wish their employers would pay them more than $8/hr so they don't have to rely on government handouts to get by, all while the employer is rewarded with huge tax breaks for "job creation".
I wish those employee's would have given some thought of their future instead of thinking life was going to be a white picket fence. What did you think? Did you think you could live the good life on a McD's income?

If what you say is correct, isn't it wrong for government to prohibit poor people from using extreme housing tactics to live within their means?

I live frugally and cannot save anything on $14K. That's why I want to pitch a tent or buy/rent a tiny house. Shouldn't that option be available to poor people?
The conservative point of view never ceases to astound me. According to you, everyone that's poor got that way as the result of bad decisions. No one ever became poor due to a bad economy, an unusual turn of events that's out of their control, or just plain bad luck. No, it MUST be because they made "bad decisions" or are lazy. I swear you just can't make this stuff up. Do you guys ever wonder why the nation is headed toward a more liberal form of government? You should look at yourselves in the mirror and actually listen to the garbage you preach. At some point you'll figure out why no one listens to you when it comes time to make policy.
My readings suggest that Dr Stanley does not expect people to build wealth until their income reaches about $40K -and that was some years ago.
No, read the article I just posted. It's not that people are "expected" to spend all of their income up to that level, it's that they foolishly choose to do so.

Like getting roommates to share and therefore reduce housing expenses? The government doesn't prohibit that until someone tries to cram too many people into a residence.
No, you don't. You've already admitted you're paying $700/month to rent a room in a house. That's ridiculously high. And you also claimed that because you're an adult, you "deserved" to live alone (without a roommate) if you wish.
What a crock of sh*t. Many of the highest-funded schools in the country have the worst outcomes.
