Yeah, but the Feds had nothing to do with that.

Justice Thomas seemed to admit as much in his dissent:

"“This acquiescence may well be seen as a signal of the court’s intended resolution of that question. ..."

Not so fast. Numerous Counties in Alabama NOT Accepting Same Sex marriage in State of Alabama

Judge Roy Moore is not alone !!!

But the converse is equally true - at least some counties in alabama *are* issuing SSM licenses.

Some people are hoping that the upshot of this will be moore's retirement from any governmental capacity. I'm not one of them. He's far too entertaining.

Yes, and it's the most populous counties, which means the majority of gay people in Alabama who wish to get married are able to.

Not only that, but even those who live in a county that is not issuing them, can go to a county that is issuing them and get married. That marriage will be legal.

Unfortunately, I do. DH's sister and their first cousin not only slept with each other but got married (blech) and then divorced. Guess where they were from? Alabama! They moved to Arizona where they got married and proceeded completely fracturing the family. My MiL answered to "Aunt Mom" (shudder).

We did not see SiL until a couple of years after their divorce because my DH was so disgusted; he has yet to see the cousin (it has been 15 years and counting).
