The FACT that preachers stand up in front of their congregations and tell them that only THEY, the true believers will get into heaven, and that those congregations BELIEVE that, is the FACT that governs human behavior.
And if you don't understand that, then you are the one without a clue.
The problem here is that the "FACT" that preachers get up and tell them is not a fact at all. It is your misperception of Christianity which for some strange reason you seem reluctant to be corrected on. You do not understand Christian doctrine. A Christian believes that a Jew, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, etc will not get into Heaven but another Christian will, regardless of denomination.
Religion is actually mainly banned, discouraged by the government while atheism promoted, and at times religious people have been persecuted and/or prosecuted for practicing their faith. This includes in many parts of China where there are underground churches.

Preachers DO get up and tell them that.
I've heard it with my own ears.
I understand Christian doctrine.
And I understand English. When the Pentecostal preacher stood up and told the congregation that black people couldn't get into heaven, it was plain enough. When that same preacher said that Catholics couldn't get into heaven, it was plain enough. When that same preacher said that no one, no one, who didn't come to his church each Sunday to worship would get into heaven, it was plain enough. And that Pentecostal preacher would have told you in a heartbeat that he was a Christian. And the people who believed what that Pentecostal preacher preached would have all said that they were Christian as well.
Your opinion may be that Christians who think that other Christians won't get into heaven are following a misperception, but the cold hard reality of it is that such Christians exist, have always existed, will always exist. There is no 100% same religion.
Why not name some religious dictators...like Hitler or Mbutu? A couple of staunch Catholics.
BTW...Stalin was an Orthodox Christian who went to Seminary.
Maybe that's where he picked up his ideas.
Hitler was baptized Christian, but later rejected his faith and became an atheist. Perhaps that's why he started killing people!
Stalin just like Hitler was baptized, but later became atheists. Many atheists were former religious. Nothing you can do if you are baptized as an infant.
