The right got to make the speeches and vote. Pubs were losing the image war over this. What else can he do now? Next up, shutting the government down over the debt ceiling. Nothing has changed.

So better shut down the DHS? That's how you get a small government ? Shutting down an essential department? That's a crazy way of doing business !

They could vote on the clean bill, which would be likely to pass given the near-unanimous support of Democrats. They could do another short-term bill, but Boehner said that might be unlikely to pass, given the failure of a three-week funding bill last week. The final option, allowing DHS to shut down, was untenable, he said."

John Boehner Blinks, Will Allow For Clean Funding Of Department Of Homeland Security

So basically, the GOP-led House just wasted another few weeks and come up with nothing to show for it. Big surprise.
I find it funny that what the media has labeled a "clean bill" is anything but-it is the "dirty" one that funds Obama's criminal amnesty. A "clean bill" would have funded everything else, leaving the funding of amnesty for a separate bill.

Ah, what compromise? He caved and gave the whiners in the minority party everything they wanted. No stones. He should have offered an actual bill that funded DHS without funding Obozo's criminals amnesty. If the Dems once again want to shut down a major government department, let them. Hopefully he doesn't have the votes to get this disgusting bill through the house.

No you show that adding funding not wanted by mnay gets a reaction. Its done all the time. It brings into light now government works to many. mnay never thought that DHS had anything to do with funding programs under Obama's presidential order. This brings it into light for them; that it needs funding and where its coming from.

Actually you're wrong. While it may have taken them longer then it should this is in fact how to govern. You pass bills with a majority vote.

The Obama stuff is held up in court where it may or may not survive. If you want a seperate vote on that, you do it. You shouldn't get things because you hold the functioning of our government hostage for your demands. Boehner is being sane about it.

He'll have the votes. Democrats will see to that.

Yeah, because the first 6 years of Obama were all about compromise.

The R's were dumb to leave a spineless twit like Boehner in power, should have replaced him with someone who has a backbone.
