The fascist in chief has threatened new "executive actions" (why not- there is no republican opposition to anything he does) to ban .223 bullets.

Interestingly, beyond the .22, .223 is the most common rifle cartridge in the US. The main focus is on ballistic tip bullets, which are widely used by target shooters.

Meanwhile, the republicans stand by and do nothing, as usual.

I thought it was the 5.56 that they were banning?

I can't believe that anyone is Shocked by this ....... King Obama is just getting started.

Amnesty for illegals, billions of tax dollars given to these same illegals.
Ignoring the Courts, the Constitution and our Laws
Taking over the Internet and refusing to even say what is in those 300 pages of Regulations

He has made no secret that he wants Gun Control -- the easiest way to achieve that was ALWAYS banning ammunition.

7.62x39 steel core was banned years ago. The EO deals with steel core 5.56mm not .223caliber.

I am sure shooters among us can guess why.

Remember when Black Talons were banned back in the 90s due to being considered "cop killers".

It's not all .223/5.56, it's steel core M855 which is also known as "green tip". Here's the details from a former ATF agent - Armor Piercing (AP) Ammunition - Ares Armor

Summary for the attention deficit crowd - the ATF is banning this steel core ammo because when shot from a pistol it will pierce level III body armor. The problem with that is ALL medium cartridge ammunition is armor piercing when shot from a pistol. The law banning steel core ammo was only supposed to cover cartridges that are primarily shot from a pistol not ones that are primarily shot from a rifle.

I always thought any decent WW2 rifle cartridge will penetrate Level III at 100 yards. You know, .303, 8mm Mauser, .30-06.

NB: just saw the above. Did not know 5.56 was available in a pistol. Do not stay abreast of modern hand guns.

I saw a keltec just now when researching this. Reminds me of a modern version of the broomhandle Mauser.

The only part of the Keltec 5.56 pistol that is interchangeable with a standard AR-15 is the magazine. The pistol I pictured above uses nothing but standard AR-15 parts. The barrel is shorter and the buffer tube is modified so the end user can't install a stock.

Like all ARs, even the pistols can be in other calibers besides .223/5.56. I've seen .22LR, 5.45x39, 9mm, .40, .45, 7.62x39, .300 and even a .458 SOCOM.

Its just another swipe at our ammo supply, using a technicality that some "genious" found. 62 gr M855 is a super common 5.56round. I have actually found it to be the best shooting ball round out there, especially out of my 1/7 carbine barrel. This "cop killer" drivel, is just that, drivel. II'm willing to bet that M855 has NEVER been used, out of a rifle, pistol or carbine, against LE body armor, in a crime. I'm also willing to bet that most LE agencies use the stuff in their ARs. Good for me but not for thee, oh Citizens of The US.

Hell, km willing to bet, again, safely, that a LOT of cops are loading heavyweight (65 gr and up) Ballistic Tip, VMax and a range of other.hard hitting varmint hunting ammo. Gotta blow big pieces out of them disrespectful citizens. I know a deputy, who uses the Nosler 75 gr BTHP Varmint Match, in his M4. That stuff makes green tip look like a 22 or, by comparison on target. These, of course, are .223, not 5.56. The difference being negligible, at that point.

This proposed ban is as idiotic as it gets, but, no doubt, has the know nothing, ignorant, anti firearms types cheering, like 12 yo girls at a Justin Bieber concert. They, honestly, don't know how stupid they are. So much for all that "higher level of enlightenment, social conscience and education" they always cocadoodledoo about.
