The OP is just being disingenuous. One of the top custom concete contractors in my area is a Black guy. He employs no black laborers, just a few white ones and the rest latino/hispanic/pacific islander. He does all my custom work I can't handle as a landscaper.
I asked him one time why he doesnt employ more black people. His answer was fairly standard, he can't keep them coming into work on time and regularly. The whities are only a little more reliable but usually move on to better paying jobs or try to go out on disability, as has been my experience.
Most of the Black men I encounter in my industry are usually at the executive level, Contractors or Site Managers. Very few are laborers.
Lots of them work for city, county and state public utilities though. As well as a lot of the white dudes in laborer positions.

Funny thread. We'll see if Carson run how the conservatives react to him and things like this. As I have stated before, I have always had a deep respect for Ben Carson. Most black people are very familiar with his story and use him as an example to black youth to stay focused on studies to achieve goals. There are also some schools named after him. He has never been "anti-black" like a lot of black conservatives are and I think because he doesn't go into the rhetoric concerning black people as a whole, that many rabid racist conservatives won't be apt to support him if he runs (FYI, I don't think all conservatives are rabid racist but there are quite a few of them just like there are quite a few rabid racist liberals).

Off topic, but I agree. I worked in procurement/contract management for many years and made quite a few connections with contractors and the majority of our MBE contractors who were black did not usually employe black laborers either and I worked primarily in teh Atlanta GA metro. They had mostly hispanic workers. Rarely white workers as a few of them even told me that the white guys didn't like to take direction from a black man.
One in particular who was an excellent contractor in his industry told me that he preferred hispanic workers as they were more reliable than both black and white but that he usually always gave a black guy a chance to work until he messed up. I think on the job we worked on (I had to do site visits) I saw one black guy, but he may have been a black hispanic.
I had over 50% MBE businesses under contract (for those who might say it was due to affirmative action or quotas, I say, whatever, Atlanta has a lot of black contractors and a high percentage of black people in general and so black people were much more represented in our contracts). Very few of those businesses employed black workers. Mostly the white contractors employed black workers in a particular skill (especially masonry, seems most masonry workers were black) but rarely does one see a black general laborer.
Poser mentality. How are those policies working? Minorities are still getting the short end of the stick and in down times they suffer far worse.

Hispanics are an ascendant group that has surpassed African Americans in numbers and somewhere between 12 to 20 million are here illegally. Now you know damn well that us black folks DID NOT invite these people here and we don't own the businesses that hired them. But for some reason, they're putting the onus on black folks to take the lead in deporting these people because in their minds...illegal immigration hurts blacks.
But when these same illegals ran millions of whites out of GOOD paying jobs, whites did a grand total of nothing.
Somehow though, they think they can put us down for not doing what they didn't do either. It's as if millions of white folks don't need low skilled labor when we know better.
