I don't want to get into the details of the shooting....mostly because I already know what most people's opinion will be based on their politics. You can read the link and draw your own conclusions. That's not the part of the story that concerns me.

However, the officer alluded to this notion that the bicycle rider somehow didn't belong in the neighborhood, or was at least out of place. How does an officer determine something like that if a guy is riding a bike?

Plus the officer said that he was going to ask the cyclist where he was going and where he came from...two answers I NEVER give the police. Can't a man ride a bicycling through any public place or neighborhood?

Regardless, the cyclist is paralyzed for life...

It has been partially discussed in another thread (inside another thread, there wasn't another topic started that you missed).

A brief synopsis of my position. He was stopped for riding while black. As long as we continue to ignore this the people are going to retaliate in stronger ways.

What does the bicyclists skin color have to do with the price of tea in China?

A white kid wouldn't have been stopped.

What about the topic. Forget the racial thing.

A bicycle is to be treated like a motor vehicle. One must ride in the street with traffic.

Yeah, I have never been stopped for riding my bike anywhere, but then again, I am white and in a bicycle friendly city.

If he was stopping people riding against traffic he would get nothing else done all day.

I have been stopped on my bike (I am white). A black cop stopped me in one of the incidents.

The topic is all about the color of the man who was riding the bike, and you started the thread.
