I don't consider her a hero but she shows concern for her sons future. I give her a thumbs up

Seriously, are we just speculating on her motives or has she given interviews, etc.?

Viral video mom: 'I don't want him to be a Freddie Gray'
“He gave me eye contact, and at that point, you know, not even thinking about cameras or anything like that. ... That's my only son, and at the end of the day, I don't want him to be a Freddie Gray,” Graham says in a CBS video .

You are kidding or are you not?

I think neither she stepped in and did what any good mom would do.

Any mom who would address her children when they are doing wrong and expect them to be productive part of society, is 3 steps ahead of most.

Six kids, where is/are the father(s)........too many when one is single!

I just watched the video. Good for her for caring about her son. She's not a hero but just a good mother. Period.

FFS she's a hero and the only actual PARENT I have seen dealing with these rioting animals. Hopefully her kid turns out all right. She seems like one of the few that give a craps about her kids.

She would be a hero if she had raised a kid who didn't riot.
This could have been achieved by not hitting her kid in the first place.

Chances are, she's been doing it for a while.

Her son (looks 16ish) premeditated about a half dozen misdemeanors and felonies.

So yeah, she has failed as a parent. 35 seconds of being ticked off at your criminal son is just that...a brief blow up.

2 CJ degrees and my whole career in the field. Seen it a million times before. Don't have to be in the field to see this though. Watch an episode of COPS. You'll see a teen/early 20s punk in the back of a police car with a record that goes on for days. His mom will come out of the house berating him and whatnot.

Yep.

Premeditated too. Look at the perp's outfit. Check that backup for contraband.

Mens rea and actus rea for the win...
